Dance and Drama Programs
Little Friends School is happy to welcome Ms. Josie and Ms. Kathleen to our staff. They will be enriching our children’s education by providing music and drama lessons.
We are providing music enrichment for our children 2 years to 5 years of age and Drama for our School Age Children. Ms. Josie Lariccia and Ms. Kathleen McCarthy-Udoff bring with them many years of experience and education in both music and drama. Over the school year and during our summer/camp program they will be working in conjunction with the children to present shows to our families over the holidays and for graduation. Here is a brief introduction.
Josie Lariccia
Josie Lariccia, a specialist in music and movement, was trained in ballet, classical Spanish dance, flamenco and pilates. She currently teaches dance, fitness and music at her newly opened studio, Josie’s International School of Dance located at 125 Main Street in Ossining, New York.
She is also on staff at Tarrytown’s JCC and is currently on the Westchester Arts Council’s Artist Roster as a dance instructor for various public schools and for other community-related projects bringing dance appreciation to people of all ages. She has also hosted presentations of dance at various colleges and universities in the Westchester area. Josie currently performs flamenco in the tri-state area and has recently hosted and performed events for argentine tango and salsa.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Boston University and an Avocational Degree in Archaeology from Norwalk Community College. She is a certified Kindermusik Instructor and Director of her Kindermusik-inspired Creative Arts Camp at the Hackley School in Tarrytown.
Kathleen McCarthy-Udoff
Kathleen is an "outreach arts in education teacher" in theater and creative writing. She travels to various schools bringing her courses to children and adults. She teaches drama at Concordia College's Summer Enrichment and The Creative Arts Camp at Hackley School. She holds a Master of Arts degree from Manhattanville College, N.Y. and a Bachelor of Arts from S.U.N.Y. Purchase, N.Y. She has received accolades for her writing and theater projects with children combining art and creative writing. Her mixed media project titled: "If I Were President" was shown at The N.W.C.A. Gallery and exhibited at the Washington Irving School In Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.
Her students writing and drama project- "My Words Project -September 11th." received an honorable mention. Kathleen's drama classes bring children together, to perform and most of all, to have fun. She encourages children to build on their own ideas and scripts in acting. She comments, "Kids have wonderful stories to share. It is vital for children to communicate and be able to find their own voice. The arts are a wonderful bridge to that discovery."
